Impact of Generative AI Tools on Employee Productivity,Job Satisfaction, and Workforce Engagement: A Study of Knowledge-Based Organizations

Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is rapidly transforming knowledge-based organizations by enhancing operational efficiency, automating repetitive tasks, supporting decision-making, and fostering innovation in the workplace. This study examines the impact of Generative AI tools on employee productivity, job satisfaction, and workforce engagement across knowledge-intensive organizations such as IT, consulting, finance, education, and research sectors. Using a quantitative research approach, primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to employees with experience using AI-powered tools in their daily work. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential techniques to evaluate the relationship between Generative AI adoption and workplace outcomes. The findings indicate that the effective use of Generative AI significantly improves employee productivity by reducing task completion time, enhancing work quality, and enabling employees to focus on strategic and creative responsibilities. The study also reveals that AI-assisted work environments contribute positively to job satisfaction by reducing routine workload, improving learning opportunities, and providing greater flexibility in task execution, while workforce engagement increases through enhanced collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation. However, concerns related to job security, ethical AI usage, data privacy, and the need for continuous skill development remain important challenges that organizations must address. The study concludes that successful integration of Generative AI requires a balanced approach combining technological advancement with employee training, ethical governance, and supportive organizational policies to maximize both organizational performance and employee well-being.
