The project “Effect of Wind on Tall Building Subjected to Different Terrain Categories Using STAAD.Pro” focuses on studying the structural behavior of a tall building under wind loading conditions for different terrain categories. Tall buildings are highly sensitive to lateral wind forces, making proper wind-load analysis essential for ensuring structural safety and stability. A three-dimensional structural model of the tall building is developed using STAAD.Pro by defining the building geometry, structural members, material properties, supports, and loading conditions. Wind loads are applied according to the relevant design provisions, considering variations in terrain characteristics that influence wind pressure and velocity. The building is analyzed under different terrain categories to evaluate changes in wind pressure, lateral displacement, bending moments, shear forces, axial forces, and support reactions. The analysis results are compared to identify the critical terrain condition and its effect on the overall structural response. Particular attention is given to storeywise displacement and member forces because these parameters are important for assessing the performance of tall buildings. STAAD.Pro helps automate structural calculations and provides graphical visualization of the analysis results. The study demonstrates the importance of considering terrain conditions while estimating wind effects on tall structures. Overall, the project provides a systematic approach for evaluating wind-induced structural behavior and developing a safer and more reliable tall-building design.
