Abstract

Cloud computing has revolutionized how organizations store, process, and manage data, but centralized access control remains a critical vulnerability. Traditional authentication and authorization mechanisms can be prone to single points of failure, insider threats, and limited transparency. This paper proposes a Distributed Ledger–Based Access Control Mechanism (DLACM) for secure cloud services. By integrating blockchain technology with finegrained access policies, the system decentralizes trust, enhances auditability, and improves resilience against unauthorized access. A prototype was implemented using Hyperledger Fabric integrated with a cloud storage platform. Experimental results demonstrate improved security, transparency, and performance compared with traditional centralized access control models.
