Abstract

The rapid growth of digital payments has significantly transformed India’s financial system by promoting cashless transactions and financial inclusion. Payments Banks play a key role in this transformation by providing basic banking and digital payment services to underserved populations. This study focuses on the role of Payments Banks in India’s digital payments ecosystem with special reference to India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). IPPB utilizes India Post’s wide network to offer services such as savings accounts, UPI, mobile banking, Aadhaar- enabled payments, and direct benefit transfers, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. The study highlights that IPPB acts as a crucial link between traditional banking and digital finance, supporting government initiatives and enhancing inclusive economic growth.
