IMMERSIVE DIGITAL AESTHETICS: SPATIAL PERCEPTION AND CULTURAL NARRATIVES IN CONTEMPORARY INSTALLATION ART

Contemporary installation art increasingly employs immersive digital aesthetics to transform how viewers experience space, embodiment, and cultural narratives. This paper critically examines the ways in which digital technologies—such as virtual reality, projection mapping, and sensor-based interactivity— reshape aesthetic and spatial perception in installation art. Drawing upon critical theory, visual culture studies, and postmodern spatiality, this study explores how immersive installations challenge conventional museum spaces, destabilize boundaries between artwork and audience, and generate new forms of participatory cultural experience. Through a comparative analysis of seminal artworks and theoretical frameworks, the paper highlights the tensions between technological spectacle and critical engagement, arguing for a more nuanced understanding of digital aesthetics as both a tool of empowerment and a site of ideological negotiation.
